2008-06-11 18:16:17 by delarue in Lucid Culture

...ridiculously early to get in, or take your chances and wait forever in a ridiculously long line that reaches almost all the way around the park. You may not get close enough to the stage to hear much. There will be only one entrance/exit, further complicating matters when its time to leave. Not the funnest place you could be on the 4th B.B....

...ridiculously titled "Il Ponderoso / Apropos of Nothing" -- on one of the nights that Mr. Richardson's entire performance costume consisted of a single silver thong Make of it what you will. I certainly wasn't expecting any of this to, uh, go down easily. But I'll be damned if I wasn't drawn into post-show pleasantries by more than one...

...ridiculously primitive rhythm section, pounding out chords with no finesse in essence, the Stooges were the first rock & roll band completely stripped of the swinging beat that epitomized R&B and early rock & roll. During the late '60s and early '70s, the group was an underground sensation, yet the band was too weird, too dangerous to break...

2009-01-07 12:20:00 by Jeff Klingman in Merry Swankster

...ridiculously influential guitarist and founding Stooges member Ron Asheton has died, aged 60. As much as Iggy's self-destructive sneer, Ron's primative and sexually charged riff cobbling paved the way for glam, punk, and everything that followed in their conjoined wakes. As all You Tube clips of the Stooges are magnetically drawn to Iggy's...

...ridiculously hooky power-pop jams on alt-rock radio during the height of the grunge era, no mean feat. Mould's also released eight solo albums since 1989, the most recent of which is last year's District Line . But I'm probably most interested in Mould's short run as a writer for motherfucking World Championship Wrestling, right when that...

...ridiculously empty as Nelly rapped his way through his chart-topping hits Yet, the truth is, given major label hip-hops track record at arenas and amphitheaters, promoters were probably lucky to get that many fans into the building. Nellys Shoreline show was hardly an isolated case of a mega-rapper failing to fill the house. In fact, for much...
