HOLDING PATTERN - Holding Pattern (1981)

The Article has images
2008-02-28 10:13:42 by Editor in Progarchives.com (Progressive rock and related latest reviews)
...Pattern was and remains (lets hope not for too long) an unsung prog hero band from the USA. Back in the second half of the 70s, they created an amazing symphonic prog offering, displaying a strong melodic vibe in their compositions and lots of energy in their performances. Guitarist Tony Spada was obviously the bands musical leader (in fact,,...

...Pattern breaks the silence after a hiatus that has lasted too long. Not that Tony Spada and his old friends had been out of the business, but Holding Pattern seemed simple doomed into the obscurity of the least famous progressive names. Now, this USA band has returned with a vengeance, using its habitual influences (Camel, Hackett-era...

...Pattern Is Movement -- play After The Jump 's NYE party at Knitting Factory. And it was awesome. And, (lots of) libations may have been involved ... so I'll let Abbey Braden 's YouTube do the recollecting. "I'm usually a terrible master of ceremonies," Dave Longstreth said at some point before midnight, but "Gimme Gimme Gimme" was perfect...

Philly's Pattern Is Movement include Andrew Thiboldeaux and Chris Ward. Their new album, All Together is out on May 6th. Produced by Scott Solter the album is part chamber music, part post-rock, yet has a warm, retro and progressive feel to it. Sort of reminds me of a mix of Midlake and Roxy Music. Good stuff Right Away - Pattern Is Movement

Check out their new one on Hometapes . with Last but not least is Aficionado , a ten piece progressive rock outfit from Albany, NY.
