Even Siberia gets a 3.5 Okay, just pay attention to the little epitaph up there and turn away, because I am about to insult...everyone. Oh yeah. Time to die, Close to the Fridge! DIE Argh! Im sorry. But Close is pretty much the prog-rock equivalent of cock-rock. By which I mean, Close is part of a mines bigger strategy of songwriting. See, ELP...

'Bird Sounds In Close-Up', and the Legend of Victor C Lewis

2008-05-09 00:00:00 by Paul Fuzz in Electric Roulette

Released on Hallmark / Pickwick in 1969, 'Bird Sounds In Close Up' is the possibly the greatest LP I've reviewed in Electric Roulette's entire 48 year history. BSICU, as it is referred to by absolutely nobody, features 100 different "sound items" from the vocabulary of 40 British Birds, live in their late 60s natural habitats around the UK...

This is a re-release of The Gourishankars debut album from 2003. Close Grip has been remastered and an extra song has been added. Ive listened very little to 2nd Hands which is their second and very praised album, but Close Grip sounds really good The music is very eclectic even though I was wondering at first why The Gourishankar was in that...

Close Harmony

2008-03-02 22:00:00 by Ed in Old Blue Bus
The great country duets of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, and even the commercial country harmonies of the Judds, the Statler Brothers and the Gatlin Brothers, all owe a debt to one of the very foundations of American music, the close harmony While the fiddle was the most...

Close to the Edge is the fifth studio album from symphonic prog band Yes. Yes started their career making two not too well received albums before making The Yes Album and finally achieving the success they deserved. The Yes Album is a groundbreaking album in many senses and with the next album from Yes called Fragile Yes developed their new...

Rating: 9.7 Progressive rock has always gotten a bad rap in some circles, and looking at CDs like Tales From Topographic Oceans, its not hard to see why. Bloated, full of useless solos, and just generally giving off an aura of intellectual superiority, Tales and its ilk represent prog at its very pretentious worst. That said, one need only look...

This was my second album in the prog world (the first being Thick as a Brick). It really roped me in with no hope of ever leaving. This album is at worst breathtaking. The original 3 songs all masterpieces in their own distinct regard, with the title track being a contender for best song. Not just on the album, best song at all Somehow America...
