GENTLE GIANT - Free Hand (1975) [rated 5/5 by kibblealex]

2008-01-24 12:53:15 by Editor in Progarchives.com (Progressive rock and related latest reviews)

Certainly the very best GG album in my books, this CD truly contains a mastery of all the Giant's traits: quasi-round vocals, complexity, rhythmical virtuosity, uniqueness, driving rhythm on several occasions... i could go on, but this is must buy 1. Just The Same - Great opener. Quite tame compared to the rest of the album, but nonetheless...

A few weeks ago, someone left a comment in my handy C-Box mentioning that, while they enjoyed the (not as frequent as I would like, but these things are time consuming, people) write-ups for older albums, I should also write about newer shit, as a change of pace. Well, I do occasionally write about newer shit, but the problem with that is I have...

After releasing the second volume of Intelligent Toys series we said to ourselves that it is probably the last one in the series. Just because we thought that it is impossible to beat the quality we have created ourselves. And after that we released third volume. Fourth volume wasnt long to come. And every time we thought the same. Although not...

LABRIE, JAMES - Elements Of Persuasion (2005) [rated 4/5 by Gatot]

2007-12-30 23:19:08 by Editor in Progarchives.com (Progressive rock and related latest reviews)

This solo album by Dream Theaters lead vocalist, James LaBrie, showcases the impact of being a vocalist of a band and the kind of music that he performs with his own solo album. In fact, the influence is so significant, its probably 60% to 70% of Dream Theater sounds and styles can be found here in this album. The good thing is that all of...

FISH - Field Of Crows (2004) [rated 4/5 by Gatot]

2008-01-01 19:13:19 by Editor in Progarchives.com (Progressive rock and related latest reviews)

An excellent easy listening In terms of song quality distribution, this album is quite OK as there is no such thing as lousy track throughout this solo album by ex Marillion lead vocalist. The problem with this is that there is no one single masterpiece track coming out from this album because all are distributed evenly from start to end. In...
