Breaking News: Radiohead video premiere

Good morning, world! As if this beautiful Friday couldn't get any better, I've just received word that Radiohead — who, by all rights, can now lay claim to the Clash's former title, "The Only Band That Matters" — will be premiering their latest music video sometime today. The video for "Weird Fishes" was created by American Tobias Stretch and will debut exclusively on MySpace Music, much like Clement Picon's video for "Reckoner" did in late September. Both Stretch and Picon were among the four winners of aniBoom's In Rainbows Animated Music Video Contest. The other two winners — videos from Germany and France for "15 Step" and "Videotape," respectively — will debut next week.

And Radiohead vocalist/spokesman Thom Yorke is so excited about the results of this contest (which, of course, was stamped with the band's official seal of approval) that he's going all Yoda on us: "The aniBoom video competition, totally blown me away it has," said Yorke in a statement released this morning.

So as much as it pains me to say it, keep your eyes and ears tuned in over at MySpace, and then let us know what you think of the new vid!

The St Jerome's Laneway Festival is coming to Perth for the very first time in a special twilight event. The Path to Laneway is a competition in which you can earn your slot on St Jerome's Laneway Festival on 6th February, at the Perth Cultural Centre. The festival will feature performances by Girl Talk, Stereolab, Architechture in Helsinki, The Hold Steady, The Drones, Cut Off Your Hands, Four Tet, Tame Impala, El Guincho, Jay Reatard, Buraka Som Sistema, The Temper Trap, No Age, The John Steel Singers, Canyons, Pivot, Port O'Brien, Holly Throsby, Born Ruffians, Mountains in the Sky, Time Fite, Still Flyin, Daedelus, Spiral Stairs and so many more great acts.

12 Sonicbids acts will be chosen to compete in Path to Laneway's 3 heats on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of January at the Amplifier Bar in Perth 7th, 15th, and 21st Jan at the Rosemount Hotel in Perth. The first place winners from each heat and one lucky wildcard competing at the Final on Thursday 29th January Wednesday 28th January. The winner of the Final will be invited to play at the St Jerome's Laneway Festival at the Perth Cultural Centre.

River City Ohio Blues Competition 2009

The Blues, Jazz & Folk Music Society of Marietta, Ohio will hold its 17th Annual "River City Ohio Blues Competition" on February 20 and 21, 2009 at The Lafayette Hotel in historic downtown Marietta. For the 17th year, Blues bands and solo/duo blues acts will compete for cash prizes and BJFMS sponsorship to The Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge (IBC) held every year in Memphis, Tennessee.

The River City Ohio Blues Competition is the oldest and largest blues talent competition in Ohio, with 18 competition slots to be filled by local and regional blues acts. Blues bands and solo/duo blues acts will compete for more than 2 days to win the grand prize of $1,000 cash and sponsorship to the 2010 IBC in Memphis, TN. Second and third place winners will receive $200 and $100 cash prizes respectively. The Competition has no restrictions on age or location, however all competitors must be blues acts. Capital M Productions was formed in 2005 with a mission to help businesses and organizations achieve their event and fund-raising goals. They specialize in providing talent and show production to the entertainment industry. This year Capital M Productions and 91.7 GIANT FM will present the Second Annual Niagara Music Awards (NMA).

The Niagara Music Awards Ceremony will take place on Tuesday April 14th, 2009 at the Niagara Centre for the Performing Arts in Niagara Falls, Ontario in front of a live audience, and television crew. All Category winners will be awarded with a NMA trophy.

Before playing tomorrow at the Zénith in Paris , Keane is playing a private show in the studios of French radio RTL2 in front of a selected audience of competition winners and VIP.
Around 200 people seated.

First there is a 15 min interview and then a 40 min show, i mean what can i say about this band ?
During the interview the singer said that the guitars were back,
What guitar ???
I've seen a guitar played on stage but i haven't heard it at all .
These guys have no charisma at all and the music they're playing is not that interesting , i though it might be good LIVE but no It really sucks but the girls love them.

Ian Rogers On The New Music Business Equation

At the recent Grammy Northwest Music Tech Summit Topspin Media's Ian Rogers' keynote took the audience through territory familiar to Hypebot readers: 1) for most artists the old model is dead. 2) in a fractured media landscape the definition of what is a hit and how to get one has changed 3) the relationship between the artist and fan is what matters 4) a new musical middle class is emerging.

But Rogers' presented it all more clearly than I've ever read anywhere including here on Hypebot. A few of my favorite quotes:

"The physics of the media space have changed and you shouldn’t expect the winners or even the definition of winning to stay constant."
"As Chuck D said at MIDEM last year, 'There is nothing wrong with the music business, there is a problem with the CD business.”

This new album will only be released overseas. Something tells me though American audiences will here it very soon. As we know Mya hasn't had much luck here. Her last album, "Liberation" was shelved after two lackluster singles. Now Mya has signed to Manhattan Records and will release her new album on December 2.

The Grammy's Nominations Go Live!

"The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! - Countdown To Music's Biggest Night" will announce nominations in several categories, feature performances by past Grammy winners and nominees, and will set the stage for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on February 8, 2009. The one-hour concert, hosted by Grammy winner LL Cool J and Grammy nominee Taylor Swift will be staged at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, and broadcast live on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 9 - 10 pm ET/PT on CBS.

Marques Houston Returns!

R&B singer Marques Houston is back with his fourth studio album "Mr. Houston." Led by the single "Sunset," Houston's new album becomes the follow up to "Veteran(2007)," an album that produced the hit single "Circle." Houston opted for Noel 'Detail' Fisher's acoustic guitars on the first single, an ode to a love lost. With "Sunset" kicking off the album, Marques Houston says the remainder of the disc follows the same personal direction. "It's all about sharing my situations, my personal situations, with you guys through music." Other cuts expected to make the album are "Restaurant," "Tonight," and "Get To The Point."
