Boston, MA - In 2007 Brian Rolland released The Tide’s In, a highly acclaimed jazz-pop release featuring Rolland’s beautiful acoustic guitar lines…expertly played and defined by some of the finest craftsmanship found in the independent music community. The Tide’s In debuted at #3 on the New Age/World/Ambient Charts for April 2008, and has been creeping up on the College Radio Top 10 World and Jazz charts over recent months.

The Cambridge Massachusetts native is a well-traveled soul and along the way, he received some fine training from some very special mentors before he released his recorded works.

Brian Rolland gives his listeners a nice variety, a colorful palette of New World Jazz with splashes of Rock, Classical, Spanish, New Age, Folk, Blues and Pop. Brian uses the nylon string guitar primarily and the steel string and electric guitar, plays the piano, and on occasion, he offers some vocals. All of his talents are brought forth with strength on TThe Tide’s In.

Brian is a seasoned and well-schooled jazz musician giving the discerning jazz lover and guitar aficionados a reason to celebrate. Right from the opening track, he creates a nice healing atmosphere with intricate, soft and inviting guitar lines featuring the golden touch of some lovely female vocals that encourages Brian’s guitar to step deeper into the flowing waters on some select tracks. The journey is one of enchantment and enlightenment through music. Only a talented and insightful musician can create music such as this and Brian Rolland consistently displays the ability to make this happen throughout The Tide’s In.

Space, the final frontier. Having chosen a name such as Pulsar, these French lads clearly
defined their mission to create music that boldly goes beyond the normal perimeters and shoots into
that zone “beyond”. The follow up to their enticing debut “Pollen” (a favorite of Peter Hammill,
according to the liner notes), which set the dreamy and romantic tone for their crafty style, is this
brilliant (like a supernova) recording with the evocative title “The Strands of the Future”. Blasting off
with the 22 minute title cut also clearly lays down the obvious that this is no pop album! This massive
piece slowly weaves in the trademark Pulsar elements: Gilbert Gandil’s pastoral acoustic guitar playing
combining with waves of Moog, Organ, Mellotron and the Solina (a distinct sounding made in France
keyboard with a distinctive tone), rippling drumming from the busy Victor Bosch and Rolland Richard’s
tremulous flute. When Gandil lets one of his immediately recognizable electric solos fly, the heavens
gates are unbolted and a torrent of heady pleasures greets the avid ear. The Floydian allusions are
only in structure, as the individual members have an all-together divergent approach, Gandil being
closer to Hackett than Gilmour (even looking like Steve circa 1974!), Bosch way jazzier, almost like
Michael Giles of KC rather than the sedate Nick Mason and the heavy use of flute and Mellotron (used
very sparingly by the “Meddlers”). Also Pulsar proffers a more instrumental medium with only
intermittent vocals. The last two minutes float in fluted serenity, peace at last. “Flight” is a short two
and a half minute stunning piece of genius, so typical of French prog with an ornately romantic hummed
theme supported by a synth-tron combo to die for. “Windows” is the third chapter, with a mournful flute
and a sad English vocal with plenty of choir backing, itself underpinned by the trusty Mellotron, all
setting the table for a restrained Gandil showcase. The arrangement is very gentle, almost pastoral, a
close cousin of KC’s “I Talk to the Wind” (hint) with absolute tremendous flute playing by Rolland
Richard and a subtle synthesizer outro. “Fool’s Failure” is the 10 minute closer, another “Great
White ‘Tron” infested track, massive walls of sound, whistling Moog flights, a slightly harder edge to
both the snarling vocals, the oddball backing voices and the grittier guitar smears. When Gandil
unleashes a huge creepy solo, the choir decides to wail insanely, giving this an almost Ange-like feel,
circa “Le Cimetière des Arlequins”. The magic flute dances again with frivolity, enticed by the string
metal tapes that lead to weird noises: typewriter, pages crunched and tossed and assorted other
oddities until the main theme comes and goes, just like a….. Pulsar.
A must have for fans of symphonic space rock, particularly those who enjoy “L’Ecole Progressive
Française”. Hey, like Finn and his fantastique forest 4.5 etoiles

Brian Rolland is a seasoned jazz player with several studio albums and many years of practical training behind him. On the 2007 release The Tide’s In, he has a host of great support behind him to make the recording exceptional. Rolland plays all the guitars, and adds some vocals while the rest of his band (see credits) provides the quintessential support necessary for a great recording.

The Tide’s In shows the many talents of Brian Rolland. The opening track sets the pace and creates a nice healing atmosphere with some lovely female vocals that encourages Brian’s guitar to step deeper into the flowing waters. This is an invitation to musical enchantment that is only the beginning. As it turns out this does set the precedence for the album.

I felt the songs where Rolland used his female counterparts to cover the vocals were the most appealing. His guitars do most of the talking throughout this recording however; yet he does an adequate job with the vocals he contributes. The instrumentals are particularly interesting because the focus is entirely on Rolland’s incredibly talented six-string virtuoso. He is an accomplished jazz musician that likes to inject his music with tropical Latin flavors and dashes of pop.

“Free Fall” and “Millennium Calypso” are a great stage for this accomplished musician to capture your imagination with his fluid and precise playing. As much as I appreciated the tracks that had vocals I think kicking back and soaking up the instrumentals where what made me realize just how good of a guitar player Rolland is. “Kick It” is a great tune, full of life and inspired with catchy guitar riffs and one line throughout-“Grab your hat, kick it back! There are some nice rhythmic vocal workouts with some old-fashioned humming and scatting to feed the guitar frenzy. Brian really cuts loose on this track offering up some of his very best guitar work and it turns out to be the best song on the album. Another instrumental comes in right behind it titled “Catch Me If You Can.”

This music reminded me of one of my favorite jazz albums of all time, Harlequin featuring Dave Grusin and Lee Ritenour, for me that was sweet because I was discovering jazz at the time that album came out. For this listener, this is one of the highest forms of compliments that I could give an artist and it is well deserving indeed.

It has been confirmed by local news channel WMDT 47 in Salisbury, Maryland, R&B singer J.Holiday was arrested Thursday night after being pulled over on Route 50 for racing with another vehicle … and having some weed in the “back of his lac!” Sgt. Frank Russo said when the officers pulled J.Holiday (real name: Nahum Grymes) over, they picked up a strong odor resembling that of marijuana coming from the singer’s car, which led to a search of his vehicle. According to WMDT, a small amount of marijuana was found in the center console of the vehicle. Holiday and his passenger, George Jackson, both face charges of drug possession, while the driver of the other car, Rolland Wesley, faces traffic-related charges.

I’m still waiting on that mugshot to leak!

Foxy Moon Baby kicks off their new album Dreamer with the title track, an upbeat jazz mover that focuses on their instrumental prowess. Then no sooner, you are in the instrumental frame of mind and the next track “Velma in the Shade” kicks in, offering some more jazz with pop overtones and the pleasant vocals of Dennis Lippe, who also mans the guitars along with his sibling Chris.

So straight away you are wondering how this CD is going to develop as it moves deeper into the eight tracks. The third track “Native Land” reverts to the purer jazz that this band offers however, this time with some Latin flair embodying some tangy percussion and snappy trumpet along with some guitar that is more rock oriented, kind of like something Santana would do. I loved it, all of the components with red-hot Latin rhythms weaving their web in the song and the resolute prevailing percussion that always seems to provide the underpinning for everything else, allowing everything to fall into place somehow to make a complete song. Things do not stop there, it just keeps going, one entertaining track after another. I like the flow, selection, and ambiance on this CD. Its dissimilar aptitude is what makes this such an agreeable listen for lovers of jazz with broad tastes.

“Eclectic Fanfare” is something right out of the Herb Alpert bag of tricks, the trumpet plays a lead role and it makes the song what it is. I cannot take away anything from the other instruments though as each one has its place. Each slot in need of filling for every track has a musician who is very capable and more than just adequate, whether it is a band member or guest. A special mention goes to John Rolland (drums) and Geoff Kraly (bass), who are an effective one-two punch that provides the model rhythm section that any good jazz unit needs to carry on. Everything fits just right and all the moving parts come together just as they need to make this an absolute success.

So hats off to everyone involved in this project. Every track takes you on a multihued jazz journey, and as expected, each one is long enough to satisfy. This CD was worthy of many listens from my vantage point and surely I am not going to be the only one that feels that way once the word gets out about Foxy Moon Baby. What is great about a CD like this is that people who normally do not hear jazz, will, and those firmly entrenched with their jazz have an opportunity to hear a different brand of rock and pop mixed with jazz.

Recently I have been trying to search for free mp3 music to download from a website; it was really frustrating by the amount of useless links or lists produced from the search engine. Honestly I can’t say all the websites I went through were useless or not exactly free mp3 music download websites, only a few rarely provide free mp3 music for download.

Seriously, if any one is really interested in searching for free mp3 music download websites, don’t bother to search through the search engine. Whatever is the outcome of the results from the search engine, you can be sure that the top of the lists will not be absolutely free. Most listed websites will require people to register as a member before you can begin to download free mp3 music from their website. Registering as a member from these web sites will not be completely free and they will need you to subscribe in a monthly, annually or lifetime membership. Membership websites will look affordable ranging from a few dollars, on a monthly basis or range from $10 to $100 for annually or lifetime membership.

Well, it is not completely a hopeless thing to find some absolutely free mp3 music to download from a website. We have to go around the problem to search for free mp3 music to download.

I seriously recommend anyone to try out using “Bit Torrent” to search and download free mp3 music from a website. Go to bittorrent and download the latest bit torrent software. The software is free for download and it does not require anyone to pay or subscribe to anything for money so it won’t cost you a cent. The reason why you need to download the software is because whatever music you are going to download, it will be in bit torrent format and it will automatically convert it to .mp3 format when the whole mp3 music file have been downloaded.

Once you have downloaded and installed the bit torrent software, use the search engine to search for bit torrent website. It is a lot easierto search for bit torrent website than searching for mp3 music websites. From the above bit torrent websites, use the search engine from within the website to search for your favorite mp3 music to download.
