Way the heck back in 2004, we called Mirah's C'mon Miracle "the album we've been waiting for." Which would make the forthcoming (a)spera, that record's proper follow-up, um...the album we've been waiting for for nearly five years?

Well hang in there a little longer, kids. We need only wait a few months more-- until March 12, to be precise-- for Mirah's new one to hit shelves courtesy of K Records. (a)spera finds the good vibes queen working in cahoots once again with longtime pal Phil Elverum of Mount Eerie/Microphones fame, as well as Decemberist-about-town Chris Funk, Tara Jane O'Neil, and Lori Goldston of Spectratone International (with whom Mirah teamed for 2007 multimedia project and detour record Share This Place: Stories and Observations).

Engineering duties for the new album fell on veteran board-man Tucker Martine and Norfork & Western frontguy Adam Selzer. A little interweb research, meanwhile, reveals that Mirah appears to be playing Latin word games with that title there, since "aspera" translates to "hardship" or "adversity" while "a spera" means "to hope." Clever lady, that Mirah. Catch her live at a few Pacific Northwest spots in the weeks to come.

When it comes to foreign music, I have a lot of titles to share. I don’t just enjoy listening to American songs, I also spend most of my time alone in listening to some foreign songs. It all started when I picked Julio Iglesia’s CD from my dad’s collection. Then, the rest is history.

Now, I don’t only enjoy listening to Latin and Spanish music but also other foreign songs like Koreans. I just so love the beat and their lyrics (when translated in English). Here are some of my recently favourite songs with foreign lyrics. =)

1.	Perhaps Love – song from “Prince Hours” (Korean)
2.	Stay – song from “Princess Hours” (Korean)
3.	No Me Ames – by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony
4.	Hey – Julio Iglesias
5.	Bailamos – Enrique Iglesias
6. The Prayer - Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion

A great live with great atmospheres and music. All the spirit of Santana is present in this beautiful and
boombastic live. Ok, I'm a fan of Santana. And is this a bad signal for a correct view of Santana's music? I
think no. Because the spirit of Santana is in my vein. Ok, in this live I prefer 'Black Magic Woman/ Gypsy
Queen (including: Paint It Black)' because is a pure Latin Spirit song and Stone's 'Paint It Black' increases
this feeling. But, since the Latin Spirit is the spirit of Santana, when I listen to one Santana's reconding if
this spirit is not present... Is not Santana that plays. This is the more defect of all Santana's tribute.
Returning to speak about this live my second prefer song is the savage 'Jin-Go-Lo-Ba' that is the end song
of this live. Perfect ending, I think. I love this song because is a sort of return to the roots of the music!
and this is another aspect that I love in Santana's music.
'Oye Como Va (including: El Pito [I'll Never Go Back To Georgia])' is ruined from the insert of another
song, but is good for a good listen to. Vice versa is great 'Samba Pa Ti (including: El Manisero/ Forest
Flower- Sunset/ Brazil/ Breezin')' also with these inserts.
So, in conclusion I think that 'Sacred Fire (Live In South America)' be a great live for the music and the
spirit. Certainly one of my all time preferred live albums.

NY Giants WR Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub over the weekend. He is now in police custody after turning himself in earlier today on felony weapons charges. It seems Burress is not licensed to carry a concealed weapon in NYC much less inside a crowded nightclub. Lickily he didn’t kill anyone. Burress is awaiting arraignment sometime this afternoon.

Burress went to the Latin Quarter nightclub but was initially turned away, according to the New York Daily News. But the paper says club management had a change of heart after Burress came back, “flashing jewelry and carrying loads of cash,” reportedly telling management he needed the gun for protection.

According to the Daily News, Burress was being taken into a VIP area when he fumbled with the gun as it began slipping down his pant leg. The gun fired, and the bullet tore through his leg.

According to the paper Burress told his teammate Antonio Pierce not to call 911. Pierce then reportedly helped Burress out of the club. Source

According to TMZ.com Burress hired the same lawyer that got Sean Combs a unanimous “not guilty” in his 1999 gun case.

Burress was treated and released from a NYC hospital following the incident. Late Sunday afternoon, someone at Burress’ New Jersey home turned the gun over to police.

This is a great debut from a promising band in the realm of jazz and latin fusion (with their early
work anyway). It’s a shame they didn’t keep this up for longer than they did!
1. Waiting- Wow, fantastic organ work here! This song is hard to resist and has some really
interesting organ soloing on it. This is Santana fusion at its best and features good guitar work
from Carlos (what a surprise). Try not to like this one! 10/10
2. Evil Ways- This is a much more popular Santana song that is the vein of a slower track, but it
still is catchy and pretty enjoyable. I’d take this kind of well-known Santana over their later work
in a heartbeat. Great instrumental interplay appears as the song develops. Fantastic! 9/10
3. Shades of Time- Another catchy song here with further great instrumentation with a jazzy feel.
Not as blazingly awesome as the first two songs, but still pretty good with some more good guitar
from Carlos. 8/10
4. Savor- This starts out with awesome Latin percussion and then proceeds to feature some more
really groovy, outstanding instrumental work. This is my personal favorite; the instruments are all
on fire! You can feel the intensity of the fusion. 10/10
5. Jingo- A good, commanding and building intro then explodes with some guitar into a Spanish-sung
straight-forward rocker with guitar work driving it along. The percussion and instrumentation are
awesome, even if the vocals can get annoying eventually, so that adds another point. 8/10
6. Persuasion- Decent song here with funky organ, but it’s not one of my favorites and doesn’t
strike a chord with me as much as the previous songs. The musicianship is good and the song
structure is sufficient for its length. Not bad. 6/10
7. Treat- The piano is featured more here, giving the organ a nice break and introducing a more
relaxing feel to this song, despite the very impressive, fast jazzy piano parts. The instruments
again all play together well and I love the percussion touch. This is another wonderful fusion
instrumental from Santana and the crew. 9/10
8. You Just Don’t Care- Another really good song with Carlos’s fantastic guitar work and everyone
else complementing well. This one features vocals and is more in the vein of Persuasion as it is
more of a rockier, repetitive song with atypical fusion elements. For that reason, I don’t like it
as much as the more explorative blazing pieces, but it still is good. Carlos’s mid-song solo is of
particular note. 7/10
9. Soul Sacrifice- Hypnotic, groovy percussion opens this one and you know immediately you’re in for
a treat (which is coming two songs late I suppose). The interplay between the drums, percussion,
guitar, and organ is fantastic here and this is an effective closer. You can hear the instruments
talking to each other well on this track—a feature which I think makes it extremely intriguing. If
you want to hear what Santana’s sound is all about, just give this song a listen. 10/10
This is a very important album in the makings of jazz and Latin fusion with rock and it is extremely
good. It is close to being a masterpiece, but barely misses the mark and still is an excellent
addition to any prog music collection.
A wonderful album of blazing, enjoyable instrumental work and an almost dance-able fusion edge that
makes it unique and extremely satisfying. Recommended.

Acclaimed Latin Jazz and Funk Guitarist Dave Percell has just emerged to the Southern California Jazz scene with a newly released solo album, ‘Eternal Traveler’.

Dave Percell on amazon.com

This new, yet exceptionally talented guitarist has delivered a CD with nothing less than a brilliant display of what a #1 hit CD should contain. It’s very rare that one can listen to a CD and actually enjoy all of the tracks, but I guarantee that not one song on this CD is a filler. Every song on Dave’s new album, ‘Eternal Traveler’ was pieced together with soul and passion.

The jazz industry has long awaited a musician such as Dave Percell. He’s different, he’s fresh, and he’s brought a new zeal behind the nylon strings. He’s created his own style and his own sound. Whether you like Jazz or not… you’ll fall in love Dave Percell.

While the entire album is incredible, my Fave 3 tracks are:

Eternal Traveler - Track #4
In Do Time - Track #5
Right of Way - Track #3

‘Eternal Traveler’ won in the top 10 spot on Ourstage.com latin channel in June of 08.

“Right of Way” kept the #1 and #2 slots for most of the month and was bumped to #13 during the finals in the Jazz channel for June 08.

Dave Percell released all tracks for online downloads in June, 2008. He is currently unsigned.

CD Track List Follows:

1. Walk With Me
2. Into The Light
3. Right of Way
4. Eternal Traveler
5. In Do Time
6. Twinkle of an Eye
7. No Turning Back
8. Do you Know Me
9. Just In Time
10. Welcome Home

Killa Kits features

So much music, so little time -- it's absurd to whittle down this year's "best" recordings to 10, an act that merely bows to convention. Why not 15? 25? 50? -- if there are that many albums that reward repeated listening with enjoyment and revelation.

I make no claims for the following list being definitive -- I haven't yet had a chance to hear once many of the some 1100 promising cds that arrived for consideration of review since November 1 2007. But I guarantee that none of these recommendations are made on the basis of anything except my liking how they sound, and I didn't work directly (write liner notes, pr material or consult) regarding any of them. As always, comments on my choices or choices of your own are invited and I urge you to try some out-of-the-ordinary sounds -- sure beats "Jingle Bells," even by the Million Dollar Quartet -- right away!
