Press Release:

P.O.S. returns with Never Better, February 3rd on Rhymesayers. It’s the follow-up to 2006’s critically acclaimed Audition. Most of P.O.S’ new album was written in a moving car. On it, he raps at full-clip to ride rolling drums and revving distortion. There’s an urgency that he keeps in careful check, and then unleashes for spring-loaded verses that represent his best work. P.O.S built his reputation as an innovator, with an unlikely punk rock past and expressive, honest content. He re-earns the accolades with every release. His records capture his charisma-they’re driving and sincere, the dark moments counterbalanced by some giggling banter with the engineer. On Never Better, the new disc, he conjures get-away cars, racing chariots, the pursuit of sirens, and the occasional rueful nighttime drive.

P.O.S. himself made more than half of the beats on Never Better, and the production bears his unmistakable signature. The album enters a room like bombshell with a black eye-badass, noisy, impossible to ignore. Feedback and relentless drum rolls are only occasionally tempered by sung choruses and clean, chiming guitar lines. Some critics will be eager to categorize the album as a hybrid-some kind of crossover project. But it’s probably not. P.O.S is a rapper with range, he’s a real musician and an unstoppable performer. For him, genres are as they ever were: permeable.

The packaging for P.O.S’s new album Never Better is a one of a kind four panel transparent plastic Digipak that holds 16 solid and 6 Transparent inserts. The solid inserts have artwork on the front and lyrics/credits on the back. The Transparent inserts have artwork that when placed over the various solid cards, enhance and change the look of the art underneath, hundreds of combinations are possible. Look for P.O.S. to embark on a headlining tour for the month of February and he will stay on the road through the summer, where he’s confirmed for the entire Vans Warped Tour.

P.O.S.’s two plus years on the road in support of Audition proved that no genre can contain him. He’s just as comfortable performing in front of punk and rock crowds as he is with his ever growing loyal hip hop fan base. On different tours, he went out with Atmosphere, Minus the Bear, Gym Class Heroes and Underoath plus did 50+ dates on the Vans Warped Tour. Audition made it up to #13 on the CMJ Radio Top 200 and was #1 on the Hip Hop chart for three weeks. The video for his single “Bleeding Hearts Club (MPLS Chapter)” received heavy rotation on MTVu and also on MTV2’s Subterranean.

Flyin' On 747 - Kid Loco

The DJ-Kicks series from STUD!O K7 belongs without question to the most successful DJ compilations in the world. The list of artists who have so far produced a DJ-Kicks mix, reads like a contemporary Who's Who of the international disc-spinners fellowship: Kruder & Dorfmeister, Rockers Hi-Fi, Terranova, Andrea Parker, Kemistry & Storm, Thievery Corporation, DJ Cam and Smith & Mighty all introduced themselves to a vast audience with their mixes. More than a mere handful have made the leap from underground secret tip to big international act through their DJ-Kicks mix. The fact that live recordings from spine tingling club sets are no longer only available as obscure tape recordings, but rather on CD in every better music shop, is thanks to DJ-Kicks. The good mix is what counts. It's now the turn of KID LOCO from Paris. There is no other producer and DJ who exemplifies music with a relaxed atmosphere quite like he does. Whether in a club or the living room - KID LOCO takes care of the etherealness. With a mixture of Easy Listening, Hindi Funk, Guitar Pop and Hip Hop Beats, the Loco Man has developed an individual sound that fascinates rocker boys, b-boys and boutique owners alike. Along with the serene balance of riffs, beats and melodies, the appeal is in all likelihood essentially due to the strange, almost transcendental softness with which he fuses the most diverse of genres. In the end, there's something for everybody from the man from the Seine. His vision of cool music is nurtured by a universal understanding of music that is open to all sides, combining new and old without a hitch, creating contexts hitherto considered impossible. He isn't interested in genres, all that counts is good music.

The Roots were involved in a crash yesterday in France when their double-decker tour bus flipped and collided with a van. Despite the severity of the accident, everyone on the bus is alive and okay (outside of a few “cuts and neck braces”). Almost immediately following the incident, ?uestlove took to his blog to let fans know of the situation. “Well…since we are sitting on the side of the road, what better way to pass the time while the ambulance comes then to…blog,” he wrote. “In reality the crash was all of about 7 seconds…but to do a 360 on the highway and end up ramped up (the van that crashed into ours was UNDER our double decker bus) in the air…is…well…a frigging miracle.” You can check out ?uestlove’s entire account of the accident here. It “will be a miracle” if the band makes it to Paris in time for their spot aboard Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark tour. “Til then just wanna let everyone know that we are happy to be alive. and not in that tv cliche way…but man…that was divine intervention. We are so grateful for this outcome,” ?uest concludes.

1. Cortosis [Original]
2. Cortosis [Chris Liebing Remix]

Having discovered a music program on a friends Amiga 500, Brian Sanhaji’s desire to produce his own sound started to grow… He started off experimenting with Hip Hop beats, but after attending a Prodigy gig became hooked on techno.

You may already know the man’s work under the pseudonym Relic and under his own name on Punkt Music & Definition Records, and he has also remixed The Horrorist. He also runs his own label Enable Recordings which has released tracks by The Advent and Andre Walter, along with his own productions.

So with a background like that you know Cortosis will have all the right ingredients to make this a stormer!
Here are two tracks of peak time techno that will definitely get the dancefloor moving - but be warned it’s not for the faint hearted! Label boss Chris Leibing steps up on remix duties to give it that special edge… This is a welcome return for this style of techno!

Thomas. Together with the choir, the group sang the glory down, and possibly even melted an iceberg or two.

Several uptempo and traditional performances, including the pulse-pounding “Leaning and Depending on Jesus,” featuring Tamara Hornbuckle and Nique Earnest, make this CD a smiling and joyful ball of energy, a “praise party,” to quote Garner’s ministry moniker. Garner himself lends his estimable talents to a number of tracks, most especially on two pieces written in the old-school tradition, “I Want the Lord to Use Me” (with Richard Wiley) and “Holy Spirit” (with John Tillery).

The choir sparkles on a powerful and bone-chilling delivery of “Hold On.” They give the spiritual appropriate gravitas, with dramatic harmonies and solemn intonation.

A snippet of Psalm 113 sung during “Praise the Lord with Me,” asking congregants to praise “from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same,” takes on a whole new meaning when rendered at a latitude where, depending on the time of year, that could be months!

The final track, “Praying,” is a hip-slapping handclapper that benefits from a “choirtet” treatment, complete with quartet-style guitar riffs.

Quick cuts between a number of the tracks, coupled with enthusiastic singing and effervescent responses from the audience, make The Alaskan Project: Together We Stand a fine ambassador of the 2007 session.

Portions from the sale benefit the Fairbanks Rescue Mission.

Four of Four Stars

The Sophmore realese by Detroit Rapper Trick Trick and follow up to "The People vs." which had the notable single "Welcome to Detroit" F/Eminem

This album starts similar to his 1st LP with a intro/skit that like a movie pre-climax scene gets you to anticapating the first song

Trick Trick (the song)-
I find this song to be very hard its a nice beat with a thunderous clap and Trick raps his graspy voice over lashing out at any and everything. But this song is a pounding and a testament to real gangster rap

Unfortunatly this song is followed up by lesser songs that seem slightly the same

U can get ****ed up-
is a okay song but doesnt really hit any high points but trick does imply that if you come to detroit you better ask him for a pass

Who Want It F/Eminem-
For anyone who heard welcome to detroit this will come as a dissapointment. Not because this is a bad song but more that it does not surpass how good there previous effort was. Eminem raps in his seemingly less serious new persona I find his feat on this similar to the one that apeared on T.I. previous album entitled "Touchdown" Both rappers have good versus but a little bit of a letdown

The next two songs again are not bad but no real substance or new vibe to them he does try to put out his crew in both though
Can't **** With My City-
Somethin 4 These Hataz-

Let's Work & Work skit
This song is very similar to Bread on his previous album but he does point out that the real hard workers will always get there money

Hold On Produced by DR. Dre
This album is quite possible one of the greatest Dre beats I've heard it has a slinking strings and a solemn beat Trick rap well on this track but the beat is the best part about this song proving once again Dre is the best producer ever

Let It Fly F/Ice Cube & lil' Jon
This song would of found more success but unfortunatly for Trick the Crunk period has ended but you can definitly get rowdy to this song

All Around The World f/Royce Da 5'9"
This song is a high point and probably the lightest song ont he album Royce and Trick both drop nice versus and anyone waiting for the Eminem & Royce reunion track this is a sign that were one step closer to having one

2getha 4eva F/Proof, Esham & Kid Rock-
This ode to Run DMC is great and a very easy listen very staright forward very good Hip Hop song but the sad part is it will be the last Poof verse we will hear in its original form but all contributors our a testiment to Detroits shine

Follow me produced by Eminem-
This song is a wierd tongue twisting slang song which makes very little since but hay if you figure it out he'll give you 10 grand good luck

Theres three more songs which our more of the same and farley forgetable
MF Pimp-
Get it Crackin-
You Told Me-

Crazy Produced by Eminem
This is a song that is emotionally raw and a good listen over a good Em beat about the betaryel of a woman

Let It Go-
The album closes with a soulful finish featuring Tric tricks family choir

The Album is more of the same but when it comes to detroit gangster rap Trick Trick is pound for pound with the best and has the rep to make it beliavable. But when he went outside the box with songs like "2getha 4 ever and around the world it pays off. Some great producing from trick, Em And Dre as well

4 out of 5 Stars
