You will acquire a great sense of pleasance from seeing the expression on their human faces when they larn to play something as simple as 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'. They are so astonied with themselves that the temper can transport right over to you.

Churches are always looking for person who can play the piano. Filling a demand for a little Christian church grouping could be extremely rewarding in footing of both satisfaction of serving as well as the benefits of making many new friends in the process.

Christmas vacations are a really fantastic clip for getting household and friends together for an eventide of restful and playing songs on the piano. If you desire it doesn't even have got to be a particular occasion. It can be anytime you experience like getting everyone together and having a good time.

Everybody necessitates some clip to themselves and if you can drama the pianoforte take that clip and play your bosom out. Don't bury to utilize this endowment that you have got been given. Not everyone have this ability.
This Swiss band released ''Out In The Dark'' in 1981. Although it was released in the eighties, it still had
the genuine seventies sound cloning ''Genesis'' quite well. This ''Supervision'' work is another affair,
believe me!
This is a partially a pure product from the eighties: synth pop, spiced with neo-prog elements. When I
listened to the opening number ''Blackmail'' I thought I was confronted to some sub-sub par ''Buggles''.
The difference of course is the ''The Buggles'' were fun and inventive while they released their debut
album. This one is just a re-heat of an old plate.
There are some ''Genesis-Collins'' attitude during the weak title track. Over five dull minutes with an
overdub bass and unmelodic sax. Press next is the best option. The first decent track IMO is ''Signs Of
Solitude''. It is precursory of what ''IQ'' will be doing a few years later: a melancholic and sad ballad,
strongly ''Genesis-Gabriel'' oriented (same applies to the short ''Woman's Art'').
The following ''Tragedy'' is of the same mould but with Collins oriented vocals this time. What a change!
Peter Wolf (their vocalist) already did this mix of voices in their previous release (he was more
Anderson-like before though).
''Time For A Change'' is another ''Plastic Age'' pop track. Still, it features some fine synthesizers during
the instrumental middle part. Not too bad a pop song after all. The closing number is a twelve minutes
epic divided into three sections. It is probably the best that you can expect from this album. Each part
is distinctive but nicely flows into one another.
''Arrival'' is rather dramatic and again on the sad side, it is very short and introduces a more
upbeat ''The Attack''. Gabriel sits next door in the middle of ''Epping Forrest'', probably. A warrior track:
battles, war, dead. A theme very close to the one from ''The Knife''. But this must be a coincidence,
right?
The closing part holds all the drama of ''Here Comes The Flood'' and pleasantly ends this album.
If you would take out the synth pop tunes from this work, it is quite a neo-prog album ''avant la lettre''.
But it is only interesting as such. Two stars.

Recently I settled myself down to watch the PBS program Nature. This particular documentary was entitled “Lobo, The Wolf That Changed America.” Telling the story of the bounty hunter Ernest Thompson Seton and his battles with Lobo, the “King of the Currumpaw,” this episode promised to be interesting, if not a little depressing as well. Now I’m not an idiot savant. You give me a hunter armed with guns, arsenic-tainted meat and leg hold traps and I pretty much get the idea where this story is going. I might not like it, but I do know where this story is going.

Everything was proceeding as I expected up to the point where Mr. Seton shoots and kills Lobo’s mate, the lovely Blanca, when suddenly this sad, sappy Celtic music started oozing from the speakers. I forced myself to sit through this musical weeping and just prayed that it wouldn’t get worse. Of course, it did. After using Blanca’s body as a lure, Mr. Seton finally traps Lobo. He hauls the wolf back to camp where the wolf dies. Again, another horrid swell of sad music. I choked back another wave of nausea and wondered if the episode’s music director was some sort of sadist. Pandering to the downright weepy, this music director claimed every opportunity to slap on the musical choke chain and all I wanted to do is crawl into the dark shadows under some heavy piece of furniture and growl.

What has happened to us? Or, better yet, what is being done to us through the unrestrained abuse of music through film and television? The above might be a heavy-handed example, but have we become so stupid as to need emotional markers throughout the movies and television shows we watch? The use of music in movies and television is intended to support the content, so why are we being beaten about the snout with some of this overemotional garbage? I’m not naïve enough to think that music directors will ever stop the use of loud flourishes whenever there is some movie miracle or the swell of strings of romance when the lovers meet or the heart-pounding rhythms that accompany most car chases. But do we really need so much emotional direction in documentaries? Are we not capable of finding sadness or outrage through the content without these emotional turn signals?

I’ve found that most of this sappy music abuse occurs during nature documentaries. I’m not immune to an animal’s suffering or death, but I don’t really need to be told that animal suffering is sad. I get it. I also get the idea that we need people to be conscious of the disastrous effects we humans have on animals and their habitats, but I can’t help but think that music directors often overplay their hand. I’ve changed channels when I felt the music was way over the top in documentaries, so I wonder how many other people hear that sad music and do the same.

There’s also something a little patronizing about these emotional signals. It’s as if there is another person standing over me and saying, “Hey, dummy, this is the part where your eyes tear up.” I suppose there is some director out there right now telling the music person, “We need sadder music here. I want those kiddies throwing themselves on the floor as that bear crosses the road.” Of course, I can’t imagine what it’s like putting on your music resume that your song was used when the baby seal was eaten up by the big orca.

I guess my point is that we’re being musically coerced with emotion; we’re being told what to feel and when. I think the type of people who watch PBS’s Nature is a fairly intelligent set of people and do care about the environment; if they didn’t it would be a hunting show complete with twangy Hillbilly licks backing up the action. Musical editorializing is dangerous in that it forces us not to think but only feel what someone else wants us to feel. It’s turning rational people into overemotional goo. It says we don’t get to make our own decisions about how we view or feel about an issue.

I guess I’ll just have to ready with my finger on the mute button because Orangutan Island is on.

Arjen A. Lucassen's Ayreon, an opera of man, their creators the Forever and their plight to save
themselves from extinction has been told throughout the Ayreon collection, but never in such a beautifully
subtle way. The album is the story of Me, whom, after seeing his wife and his best friend together,
proceeds to attempt suicide by crashing his car. While in a coma he battles with his emotions, all
portrayed by different accomplished singers, on a number of circumstances; all while his wife and best
friend battle with guilt and sorrow over his situation. Throughout the story Me, the main character,
relives his life, gets closure from his neglectful father, receives forgiveness from his best friend for Me's
own betrayal, and finally forgives his wife for cheating on him. Only in the last few moments of the CD is it
revealed that the entire story was a computer program in The Dream Sequencer, a machine that can
project simulations of life while the user lies motionless inside, for a Forever, one of the creators of
mankind and of whom lost their emotions eons ago. The story ends as the Forever says, Emotions... I
remember. Revealing that after living a humans life and going through happiness to rage to sorrow, the
Forever have finally regained their long lost emotions. By far the best Ayreon, and even Arjen A.
Lucassen's album to date; with a fantastic storyline, and an amazing line-up of musicians and vocalists,
this CD should be one of the favorites of any progressive metal fan.

DJ battles I get, but this thing? It's kinda weird. The finals of the Red Bull Big Tune producer battle will be held at New York City's Highline Ballroom December 3. In addition to live performances from the likes of Ghostface Killah, Digable Planets, and the Alchemist, attendees will be asked to weigh in on 16 producers, culled from a nationwide search, who will throw down live for a chance to work with some rap heavyweights at the, um, Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, California. According to a press release, "The head-to-head competition gives each producer 90 seconds to prove themselves and stay in the game. What makes Red Bull Big Tune truly unique is that there are no celebrity judges. The crowd determines who will advance and who will go home. The last person standing will be the one with the 'big tune.'"

Wow, 90 seconds? I didn't even think those No Limit dudes could crank 'em out that fast back in their late 90s heyday, and I understand that they had beats by the pound.

Whoever's crowned victor will land that shot to record in Santa Monica with their choice of Nas, Common, Lupe Fiasco, or the Game, who are all probably hoping against hope they don't end up in SoCal with some rookie.

Your winner also receives "custom studio equipment and national bragging rights." South Dakota, ya heard?

Q: Who likes math-rock? A: Me! And apparently normal folks now, too, judging by Battles’ sudden comparative fame that makes them the biggest math band ever. But the point is not Battles or normal folks, the point is two albums: French Miami, who we love, and Three Trapped Tigers, who we newly love. Of the two, Three Trapped Tigers, who are from the UK, are the more Battles-like — mostly instrumental and they love them some Don Cab — and their self-titled EP has been slaying me all day (first time I’ve ever heard it).

Now for anyone who listens to our EVR shows, French Miami should be a familiar name to you. I played their “Science Fiction” track — which is awesome — on our second-ever show, and this Friday’s show will feature another cut, “Multi Caliber Rifles,” that I maybe love even more. And yeah, as Joe mentioned yesterday we were seriously eyeing them for eMusic Selects, but then they got signed and that’s awesome for them because they deserve it! So yeah, for the other two of you who like this kinda stuff, two brand new records in the genre that are rad. Which never ever happens, so get yr hands up!

Ah, Thanksgiving. It's a good time to look back and think of all the good things that have happened the previous year. In fact, I was remarking to Melissa earlier today that we had had no car trouble and no illnesses in our little family the entire year, for which we are both VERY grateful.

Tomorrow morning, we're headed out to visit our dear friends in Ozark, MO. This is the third time I've done this trip since MOG entered my life, and it's always a little bit hard to tear myself away, not that I ever fully tear away. I'll still sneak off and borrow their PC to check my e-mails, because it gives me so much joy to e-chat with my Trusteds.

I want to give you something to stir the imagination, all you Rob Gordons out there, so I hereby give you another Top 10 list in albums for 2008:

Top Ten Artist Comebacks For Which I Am Grateful

Again, please, this is just for entertainment purposes only; no gambling.

Suppose The Beatles had used "Revolution No. 9" as the lead track on The White Album? You might think about that as you listen to "Hemocult/Care About You," the jarring and eventually disturbing opener to the latest by pop enigma Rachel Taylor Brown. Kicking off a new release with over around seven minutes of toy piano, noise, eerie voices and telephones might be asking a lot of a listener. Yet Brown's daring pays off. Though the track eventually wears out its welcome, it does preview the kind of daring cheekiness to be found following it.

Much of that daring comes from taking on the big questions, as suggested by titles like "Another Dead Soldier in Fallujah," "Abraham And Isaac," and "Passion." Her Dylan-esque, slightly surreal commentary on Old Testament and current religious battles-internal and external wars-are made both creepy and silly, equal parts ambient, bombastic, disjointed melody. That saves tracks like the angry "B.S. (Beautiful Savior)" from attacking religion with tired bromides; she injects new life into spiritual acrimony. Then there is the metaphorical, jarring "Hemocult," a variation on the medical term for blood in the stool.

"Half Hours With the Lower Creatures" chases the better angels while railing at false or disappointing idols. Rachel Taylor Brown plays with rhythms, texts and tests her audience. It is an exhausting, but honest and daring set.
