As you can tell from the title, the magic continues to flow from SymbolOne. The amazing production keeps getting better and better.

SymbolOne first blew me away with Love Juice. I wasn't 100% sure how someone could followup from such an epic track.

But it has been done. Well and truly...

Magical.

Mindgutter played down in Wollongong a few days ago with Blockrockers and it was just crazy. Pure debauchery. We loved it! Can't wait to catch the Wollongong boyz and girlz when they trek up to Sydney for a VERY special La La Land in 2 weeks.

Hey Lovers

Happy start of Olympics day

I should be more nationalistic and post some of my favourite Aussie remixes or something but there are enough of them circulating at the moment and I was only reminded of this worldly even about 30 seconds ago!

Anyway, remember that AMAZING Madonna remix by Sidechains that I posted (from the infamous Buffet Libre Rewind project)?

Well… I finally got around to checking out his other tracks! My favourite is “Waiting So Long” which makes me ridiculously happy for some reason. His music is just so uplifting and takes me back to those glorious days when decent house music dominated the scene.

I also got a beautiful track from Bufi yesterday! I’m really digging this Mexican’s style at the moment. This new song ‘Endless’ is so gorgeous.

100 : WEEZER FANS

I love it that if you go to google image search and type in 'Weezer Fans' the first result you get is this lot of rather bored looking individuals. Hell , they even got one guy in mid yawn.

But the real reason I decided to include them has got nothing to do with my hatred of nerdy people with whiney voices making commercial pop songs complete with a 'humorous' video to go with it. Oh no the reason that they piss me off is for the simple reason that if you get a bunch of Weezer fans together and start to discuss music they sound like a bunch of 5 year olds.

It's enough to make me want to lay a brown one.

In this age of Dobbsian-fueled immigration hysteria, what could be more timely than an opera about a beautiful Mexican drug smuggler who kills her lover after he betrays her and becomes a folk heroine and the subject of numerous “corridos” — a form of Mexican ballad — popularized by Los Tigres del Norte?

¡Unicamente la Verdad! , a “videoopera” with music by Gabriela Ortiz and libretto by Rubén Ortiz-Torres, is the story of the contemporary feminist heroine Camelia “la Tejana,” who has come to symbolize the idea of the strong woman in Mexican folklore.

“A long time ago, I received a commission from the Organization of American States to write a chamber opera,” said composer Gabriela Ortiz. “When I discussed this with my brother, Rubén, he suggested that we look at El Alarma — a tabloid magazine that claims to print ‘Only the Truth!’ — as a point of departure for ideas about popular stories in the news media that had a particular social impact. We found a striking piece of news and visual images about a man who committed suicide because of a woman, Camelia la Tejana. From that story, we started to conceive the entire opera.”

The “videopera” encompasses elements from contemporary music video, tabloid journalism, analytical documentary, popular Mexican music and opera. The libretto is based on several news pieces about the return of the “real” Camelia and reconstructs her “true” story of trafficking marijuana and becoming a murderer for love.

Indiana University Jacobs School of Music’s production of ¡Unicamente la Verdad! (Only the Truth!) will be staged tonight, August 8 and tomorrow, August 9 at 8 p.m. in downtown Bloomington’s Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The world premiere, which concludes the 2008 IU Summer Music Festival, will feature the IU Contemporary Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Carmen Helena Téllez. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Beyoncé's Controversial L'oréal Advert Update.

Beyoncé Knowles latest advert with French company L'Oréal has been under fire in the past due to claims that Beyoncé's skin had be lightened. The company has commented on the issue below:

"We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L'Oréal Paris altered Ms. Knowles' features or skin-tone in the campaign for Feria's hair color."

A rep for the 27-year-old Knowles declined to comment beyond the L'Oréal statement.

Solange - I Decided (Part 2) [Live Performance]

Solange Knowles, still on the promo tour of the UK, performed at T4 this week. She performed her latest single "I Decided (Part 2)" and the performance was cool, Solange looks awesome. Hopefully the track can be a success for Miss. Knowles.
