Warm up sets

Warm up sets are sets at the start of the night usually the early bird shift at a club and for me one of the most fun DJing, whilst the tempo and dancing are a bit scarce for me its a  chance to play some interesting tunes as the crowd gets warmed up for the other DJs. warmup sets are idea for beginners, bu unfortunately most beginner DJs forget about keeping it chilled and gradually coming to a boil, rather they jump straight in with a hardcore session of anthems. which because of the acoustics of an empty dance floor and the fact that its totally inappropriate for the mood of a warm up set, out simply DJing a warm up set with anthems is over kill and shows a profund lack of being able to read and predict a crowd.

A warm up set is all about setting the scene for the rest of the night, its all about build a vibe and mood, an ambiance to gradually draw in the audience. to be gentle enough to get people in a good mood and socializing its not your just DJingthe warm up set to get people dancing, until your setis coming to an end.

This however doesn’t mean you are restricted to boring kenny g style music, infact its quite the opposite, you can get really creative and interesting with your tracks, you can play more unusual tracks older tracks and more that one style. Your looking for interesting and mood setting track that together work to make it irresistible for people to start dancing, build up the tempo gradually, focus on getting girls out on the dance floor and throw in vocals and melodic tunes that will capture their attention. Once you’ve got the attention of a dance floor waiting to dance…throw i that killer tune you know will drive them mad…

DJing warm up set is like foreplay, take it slow and easy tease the crowd, until they cant hold it in then give them the one thing that will throw then over the edge.
