I MOTHER EARTH
DIG (1993)

320 KBPS

Debut album from Canadian post-grunge band (including the vocalist of Rush's Alex Lifeson's side project, Victor), Dig is a terrific debut! Building a more complex and jammy sound on a grunge basis (think Soundgarden, Alice In Chains with a Doors twist to it), the four-piece sure known how to make trippy music. I Mother Earth plays a genre of psychedelic-metal that will put some of us listeners into somewhat of a hypnotic trance. Mike Clink (Guns 'n Roses) delivers a crisp production that allows the music to fully devellop its potential. I could go on and on praising each quality this band possessed, and there are quite a lot! All you need to know is that this is a must have for anyone having a slight interest to sharp-guitared psychedelic music or quality alternative metal. It's a real shame this band didn't become a crowds' favourite and disbanded after, only, two nearly-perfect albums... Cease the chance to catch on a great band, download the files and buy the album once you've realized how good this music is!

MAD SEASON
ABOVE (1995)

320 KBPS

Grunge supergroup comprising Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, Walkabout's John Baker Saunders, Screaming Trees' Barrett Martin & Mark Lanegan; Mad Season have seen two of its members die of overdose respectively in 1999 (Baker Saunders) and 2002 (Staley). Here, the emphasis is put on the acoustic side of the grunge thing resulting in a haunting a beautiful display of somber and trippy power-ballads.
If you are looking to get out of a depressed mood, don't put this on because you will sit around and listen to its beauty, admiring the quality and the difference it assumes apart from traditional grunge sounds of Staley's Alice in Chains and McCready's Pearl Jam. Above won't get you riled up, but it will make you inspired and cause you to think. Listen to it alone, whatever your mood, and you will lapse into a world within yourself where Above is the soundtrack and your imagination is the movie.
