THE GREATEST 90S ALTERNATIVE MUSIC, PART 3
2007-12-26 10:00:37 by Infonistacrat in The Music Blog of the Infonistacrat!

All I can say is thank God Christmas is over. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting presents. Actually, I more enjoy giving presents. When you grow up in poverty, you kinda get used to not getting stuff at Christmas. In my life, I am pretty blessed, so I think the best way to show my appreciation for that is to make sure the people I care about are taken care of. That part is all cool. What I hate is all the hype that gets shoveled down my throat. That I can do without, and I’m so glad it’s all over now.

Enough rants. On to the tunes! Pretty much your standard radio fare of the mid 90’s here, with a few exceptions. After including L-7 a couple posts ago, I got in the mood to throw some more riot grrrl in. As you can tell, I am a huge fan of that genre…some of the best music not many people know come from these great female bands. Bikini Kill is without a doubt the best of the riot grrrl acts, and Rebel Girl is a great song you really need to give a chance to. And while your at it, 7 Year Bitch and Babes in Toyland are also bands that you need to listen to. One of these days, I need to dedicate an entire post to these great bands.

And speaking of great females of the 90’s, check out the Joan Osborne cut. Relish was one of my favorite albums of the 90’s, and she never really was able to recapture that sound in any of her other work. I thought she was pretty hot back in the day…I would rank her and Shirley Manson from Garbage as the two hottest alterna-chicks from the 90’s….of course both are FAR behind my wife, who in the day made those chunky heels, black tights and short dresses look damn good. Sorry, got a little carried away! Rock on baby, rock on!
