The poet Edwin Lewis Henry Morgan have won the Sundial Scots Humanistic Discipline Council Book of the Year awarding for his up-to-the-minute aggregation of poetry.


The author and comic Rory Bremner presented Professor Lewis Henry Morgan with the £25,000 awarding at the Borders Book Festival in Melrose on Wednesday.


The 87-year-old is Scotland's first Makar, or national poet.


His collection, A Book of Lives, covers issues ranging from the warfare on panic to the Scots Parliament's opening.
