Although I was battling a severe case of post-Petty depression (and still am, a little), I ventured out to 610 and Kirby, the sprawling, soggy field once known as AstroWorld, for a few hours Saturday afternoon to get a firsthand look at the inaugural Rock the Bayou festival. Though the weather didn't do anyone any favors, the crowd was sparse (to put it nicely) and there were a few glaring logistical glitches - to be expected at the first year of any large music festival - if it diversifies its booking a little more, RTB could potentially, eventually grow into the hard-rock twin to Austin City Limits. Whatever happens, though, they've gotta keep the "Ride a Porn Star" skateboard booth.
