Downtown Music Productions Presents Shakespeare and Song Concert on June 22 in New York City

Downtown Music Productions, Mimi Stern-Wolfe, Artistic Director, presents their 2007-2008 season finale, Summer is a Comin’ In - Shakespeare and Song on Sunday, June 22 at 3:00 PM as part of their East Village Concert Series at St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery, 131 E. 10th Street at 2nd Avenue in Manhattan.

Featured works include the New York Premiere of Richard Simpson’s Shylock, Gerald Finzi’s Let Us Garlands Bring, Joel Mandelbaum’s Sonnet #118 (commissioned by Downtown Music Productions), Ralph Vaughan Williams “Orpheus With His Lute”, Roger Quilter’s “It was a Lover and His Lass,”and “Come Away, Come Away Death”; the New York Premieres of Carolyn Steinberg’s Song; James Theobald’s Sonnet and Leonard Lehrman’s Sonnetina #15 When In Disgraceas well as Carolyn Steinberg’s Ophelia’s Lament for Soprano and Harp.

Performers include Gayla Morgan, Soprano; Helene Williams, Soprano; Piano; Kurt Alakulppi, Tenor; Mary Hurlbut, Soprano; Robert Mobsby, Baritone; Andrew Bolotowsky, Flute, Galina Heifetz, Violin, Daniel Barrett, Cello, Michelle Gott, Harp and the Downtown Chamber & Opera Players.

Special guests will be the Caring Community Chorus, the 14th St. Y Community Chorus, Mary Kate Burke, Stage Director and the St. Marks Chorus, Jeannine Otis, Director.
