-Danny Howells (above) lends his selection and mixing skills to a vaunted title, Renaissance: The Mix Collection, made famous by Sasha and John Digweed in the mid-'90s. Howells's two-disc version, his first mix-CD in three years, comes at you sometime in September. I've given it a spin and it's sublime - although it's definitely on the mellow side for those of you expecting some Howells-at-Space's-terrace madness.

-D:Fuse has a 10-year best-of/retrospective, all remastered and reworked with the help of production partner Mike Hiratzka, coming at you Oct. 28. The Scumfrog, Jes and remixer Bill Hamel make contributions. It's called Thanks For Listening.

-San Francisco's Dave Aju has a full-length debut, Open Wide, due for release Oct. 6 via Circus Company. The album is said to contain elements of house, hip-hop and live instrumentation.

-Florida's Eight-Tracks label, owned by Q-Burns Abstract Message, states that it's releasing the debut EP, "Knight of the Hawke Fields," from legendary San Francisco leftfielder Gavin Hardkiss. Although Hardkiss has released music as part of the Hardkiss collective and under his own Hawke moniker, this is his first record under his own name, according to Eight Tracks. The EP is due in mid-October. Mr. Hardkiss is back in San Francisco and is said to be inspired.

-TimeOut New York catches up with the producers of this month's minitek festival.

-A small Iowa town is poised to stop a rave from happening this weekend. Echoes of Footloose?
