MY REVIEW IS PRODUCED USING THIS RELEASE: Cinevox Record s.r.l. CD MDF 329

RATING: 7/10

MUSICAL GENRE: various

INTRO: 'La Chiesa' is a great Dario Argento film (as I read because I have not seen the film). Sure this O.S.T. present good songs. In general 'La Chiesa (O.S.T.)' present gothic ambient/ horrorific music. But extreme convincent also for who not love this type of music.

THIS RELEASE: This O.S.T. present 13 songs. The last four songs not appear in the original LP (Cinevox MDF 33/192) and it is not possible to translate this O.S.T. as reprinting of the original LP. The production are good, also if too Claiming the atmosphere of the film, so it is not possible to fully appreciate the music without images. Another point of discording is the song 'Go To Hell' (by Zooming At The Zoo), insipidus Disco Funky! But in general 'La Chiesa (O.S.T.)' is a great O.S.T.

THE SONGS: Good the Emerson's songs (but 'Prelude' are by J.S. Bach) and too atmosphericals the Goblin's songs (composed and arranged by Fabio Pignatelli) extreme indicated for the fans of Vangelis or Tangerine Dream. In this sense Emerson plays songs in J.S. Bach Rock version and Goblin are not play true Goblin's songs. The differences are all in Keyboards partiture: more baroque the Emerson's keyboards work. 'Go To Hell' (by Zooming At The Zoo) is the worst song in this O.S.T., a pure insipidus Disco Funky. Good the Ska Rock of 'The Wire Blaze' (by Definitive Gaze). The two 'Suspence Chiesa' are totally ambient music and not Goblin's songs.

CONCLUSIONS: I do not see the film. But the music is good also if you do not see the film. The production not help this fact, but in general this music live also without the film. Better Emerson or Goblin's songs? It is difficult to judge. Both are gothic ambient music with tons of keyboards. Emerson's songs are too Gothic and Goblin's songs are more ambient. But in general are similars. Another context for Zooming At The Zoo and Definitive Gaze. Sure not a masterpiece. But as a O.S.T. are great.
