Last year Custom Blue’s highly successful 7” release ‘Under the Counter’ was one of Nick Luscombe’s (XFM) singles of the year. In 2008 Ho Hum Records are delighted to announce Custom Blue will be releasing two tracks, ‘When it Burns’ and ‘Without You’, in digital format. ‘When it Burns’ and ‘Without You’ find Custom Blue in the sombre electronic mode, which won them so many plaudits when they first arrived on the scene with Ross Allen’s Island Blue label. ‘When It Burns’ has all the nuances of classic electronica matched with 60’s California-esque vocal harmonies, broody guitar lines and a disco-like bass line, courtesy of Chris Taylor of The Bays fame. ‘Without You’ explores a sadder, piano-led Custom Blue, with production nod to hip hop and another big bass line to set heads nodding. This is a ‘must-play-out’ record. Both tracks benefit from having the finishing skills of Mark Pritchard (Global Communication, Troubleman, Harmonic 33/313) and David Brinkworth (The Fields, WARP, Harmonic 33) at the excellent Presshouse Studios in Devon and are mixed by the talented Steve Musters.

Formed in the last century, south London troubadours Alex Pilkington and Simon Shippey have recently finished the follow up to their acclaimed debut album ‘All Follow Everyone’ which was released on Ross Allen’s Island Blue imprint in 2002 (Universal). Following work on various projects including Ed Vallance, Azymuth, The Fields, Flotilla, Beth Hirsch and Hoighty Beaver, Custom Blue are back performing in both the UK and NYC in acoustic format throughout 2008.
