Music industry tastemakers The Rage have recently been joined by Jeremy Ledlin, founder and former Managing Director of the Barfly Group, in a venture creating new music nights for unsigned and emerging talent in key venues throughout London called The Rage Gigs. Unlike The Rage main parties that target the 30+ market, The Rage Gigs are open to a broader crowd, inviting music lovers of all ages to enjoy an evening of new musical discovery. Ledlin, who is regarded as a leading promoter in the field of new live music, and was responsible for increasing the Barfly Group annual turnover to £5 million in 2007, is an exciting addition to ‘The Rage’ team.
The Rage Gigs are initially taking place at The Monarch - Camden’s newest venue on Chalk Farm Road. Ledlin comments: “I’m delighted to be working with The Rage on these new live music events, and what better place is there to base these shows than The Monarch, right in the heart of Camden, Europe’s long standing hottest spot for new live music.”
You may wonder why my interest in such a venture? Well, the opening night is somewhat experimental featuring the much vaunted Duke Garwood and another band who I have been playing a lot recently, Knots We Tie. The track “Blood Below” reminds me very much of early Arcade Fire. I have included the websites of all the artists playing the opening night March 6th below:
