Florida's annual Best of the Best concert is lining up to be THE reggae event of the season! The Memorial Day weekend event will be hosted by Bobby Konders (Massive B), Tony Matterhorn and DJ Khaled and features an all-star reggae and dancehall lineup topped by none other than Super Cat! That's right, the original Don Dada! There will also be blazing performances by Buju Banton, Barrington Levy, Mavado, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Junior Reid, Assassin, Tarrus Riley, Etana, Serani, Bling Dawg, Machel Montano, Dean Frasier, Demarco, Bugle, Screechy Dan, Rockafella and Dilly Chris.
It all goes down on May 25th at Bicentennial Park in Miami. In dancehall tradition, the show starts early - 1pm - but ends unusually early - 11pm. Probably due to a noise curfew, but having the show end before midnight might keep things relatively peaceful. A few of the artists on the lineup are known to cause trouble when they come together. Last year's Sting was an unfortunate example of artists not knowing when to play nice.
It's funny that I found this article today, after reading/commenting on 2 MOG posts that mentioned Super Cat. So, I'd like to dedicate this to the 2 moggers who were already on the Super Cat pulse: Tuff Today Tuff Tomorrow and Baudolino...

Super Cat was a hip hop pioneer. He took the chat style of dancehall culture and brought it to NYC where he continued to be involved in soundsystem culture. He has recorded with Heavy D, B.I.G., Mary J Blige, P.Diddy and many others. Clipse, Pharrell, Kardinal Offishal and Timbaland are big fans of Super Cat and invited him to perform with them a few years ago in Puerto Rico. Here's video from one show:
